    CD woes

Hi. Just installed Mandrake 10 and now my dvd drive has become my arch nemisis.
Some discs read, others don't show anything at all.
Sometimes all I can see are strange icons with ????????? where the file name should be.
I know the discs have files on them.
The disc I booted up on and installed Linux with, won't even read right once it's booted.

Why won't my cd's work? it's set for "auto" under type in computer configuration. I've tried all the different settings. Same results.
It's also set to "mount when inserted", too.

    Any help is much appreceiated.

Sounds to me like a botched install. I've only rarely run into this kind of error, and it was usually on oddly-formatted discs (like Mac CDs). You might try checking your install disc (or the ISO files if you downloaded it) to make sure it wasn't corrupted.
