    Unzipping files


    I have fedora core 4 and I was just wondering if you have a file called file.tar.gz is there any difference inbetween going to your termianl and typing

    tar -xvzf file.tar.gz
    or going the file, left clicking, and choosing the Extract here option. Thanks

    I doubt it. But you'd have to take a look inside your file manager's source to be sure.

    And it's really not unzipping, it's decompressing then untaring or extracting.
