New Ubuntu: not recognizing Linksys WPC54G2 card

Config : Dell Latitude Win XP Pro, Linksys WPC54GS Card

i checked the Ubuntu site and it says that this wireless card will run with no hitches in the OS, yet it is not recognized in the networking ports list. In windows xp pro it is working and active. Does anyone have an idea how i can get this wireless card to work????

I'm new to this world so any help is much appreciated!

Firstly, read this post and find out what chipset the card uses, and what drivers are used. Now, if you have to use ndiswrapper, follow this tutorial. Since you use ubuntu, just use apt-get to install ndiswrapper.

Note to use ndiswrapper, you need the kernel sources/headers installed on your system along with the wireless-tools all of which can be downloaded through apt.
Life is complex, it has a real part and an imaginary part.
