About GeeXbox...
well you cannot install it, as far as I know (of course everything is possible, so I'm sure you could manage something).
Myself I downloaded the ISO generator because I like to fool around, but of course you can just download the GeeXbox ISO (6.3mb, pretty small).
For the ISO Generator, read the instructions on the site. Don't be afraid, it's quite simple... http://geexbox.org/en/index.html
Don't bother with the sources...
For a small distro that can be installed "easily", well DSL is what you are looking for.

Talking about GeeXbox here?
Really, it should work nice.
The default configuration (you can see it in detail when you play around with the ISO generator) is really inclusive (work with most hardware).
If you have any trouble with DSL or GeeXbox, well
1) Google a lot
2) Ask precise questions (here)
People are always willing to help around here.

great idea to have a player only distro
i guess it saves on the resources.
picture was very good.
sound was a bit low volume -i need to look into it.
what was problematic was the sound adjustment.
and help said right arrow is for fast forward but i could not figure out how to get out of it.
similarly back arrow for rewind and that too i could not figure out how to get to play mode.
a few little problems like that.
shall be googling to find answers.
let me know if you know the answers.
now it IS installable.
one hits the F1 key within 3 seconds of appearence of screen and get into options, type install and it installs.
needs only 8 mb (16mb recommanded) space.
installs grub.
next looking forwards to a creating a customised iso.
has anyone thought of a similar distro for browse only?
regards

I believe the controls in general are the same that those of mplayer:

Of course, sometimes the menus are a bit tricky, specially for DVD playback...
I guess you would need something very light, that install in RAM so browsing is crazy fast: so either SLAX or DSL.has anyone thought of a similar distro for browse only?
I tryed ELIVE once and was quite impressed, but it's not that small (it's a full CD)... but if you have a lot of RAM, you can install it in memory as well.
But, let's stay sub-200mb.
You could always make one yourself, it really doesn't look too much work:

so i downloaded this one.
went ahead with custom building BeeXbox and it was a breeze really.
will have to see what new capabilities it has acquired.
