    correct syntax for the cpio command


    I am trying to copy the contents of /dev/sda1 which is the 1st partition of a linux image that I have. what is the correct contents to use for the cpio command? I have a cpio directory in /tmp which I'd like to put the contents in.

    Would you be more clear as to what you intend to do ? You've a linux image on /dev/sda1 ? An image ? Or your linux installation intself. Where is the /tmp located on /dev/sda1 itself ?
