    shutdown -h


    hi,
    the shutdown -h command can only be use by the super user, is that any command that perform the same function for normal user?

    You could use sudo to give access to the shutdown command.

    You could also use the 'shutdown' option from the GDM/KDM login screens (if you're using X).

    Where ACPI is configured properly, pressing the power button on the box causes a shutdown, too (no permissions and no typing needed!)
