Need Help re Bootloader
The options I get are:
1. First sector of drive (MBR)
2. First sector of the root partition
3. On Floppy
4. Skip
Now I am not using or running any other OS on this PC and Mandriva 2005 will be the only one that will be running/installed on it.

MBR is your best bet
.
Debian Jessie x86_64 & armhf :: LibreELEC is the solution for your Linux-based HTPC setups.

ditto.
Put the boot loader on the mbr.
All Linuxs need a boot loader, so even though you only intend to use a single OS on your PC, you still need to install a bootloader.
have fun
Nerderello
Use Suse 10.1 and occasionally play with Kubuntu
Also have Windows 98SE and BeOS
