Can Mplayer plugin stream MP3 podcast files?

    Hello all,

    O/S: Ubuntu Breezy (5.10)
    S/W Firefox 1.5
Mplayer, and Mplayer plugin for FF

When I try to listen to a podcast (MP3 format), by selecting an RSS feed in my Firefox live bookmarks, the Mplayer plugin starts to buffer the d/l and then when it starts playing it the d/l seems to stop at about 3 minutes worth of playtime. These podcasts are normally over 1 hour long. If I d/l the file to disk and start the full Mplayer (Applications>Sound and Video>Mplayer) the whole podcast is there.

Is there a way to get the Mplayer plugin to 'stream' the whole MP3 file?

    TIA
    Yleeyas

Is this too dumb a question? Not even a RTFM? I'd settle for a Y/N

I can't answer the mplayer question since I've never tried the firefox plugin, I usually listen to .mp3 streams with beep-media-player (xmms works as well), perhaps you could try one of these two?

    Hello psic,

    Thanx for the reply.

Playing the podcast isn't a problem. What I've been doing is downloading the whole podcast file (MP3) and using totem, rhythmbox or the full mplayer app to play the file.
I've also got totem to stream the mp3, (though it doesn't seem to be working tonight )

I'd really just like to figure out why mplayer plugin isn't streaming as advertised

    Thanx again for your attention,

    Yleeyas
