    Getting sound to work in Ubuntu


    I recently installed Ubuntu on my PC, The thing is that my sound does not work so if anyone could give me a solution on this for a noob i would be greatful. thanks.

    What's not working? Is your sound card being detected? If it is, then the usual problem is that the channels are preset to minimum volume or muted by default. Check the setting using something like alsamixer. It worked for me on Fedora Core 2.

    type 'alsaconf' or 'alsaconfig' and follow the instruction.
    try also 'sndconf' but I think it won't work on Ubuntu (Gnome).
