Home directory backup script for newbies

I know this thread is pretty old but I just stumbled across it today and am wondering how to modify it to just backup the folders I tell it to (or a full system backup) and put it in one file and just do incrementals after that. Thank you, Brent

Thanks, though I will humbly admit you have quite a bit more scripting knowledge than I, I have copied your script and have learned quite a bit from it.

That's why a forum like this is great.

I really enjoyed this script. I did some modifications my own and boom it's working like charm.

But one problem tho.. Email sending having some issues. I even configured the "mail" program.

I'm doing this on a Ubuntu server. Is there anything you can help me with.
