HOWTO setup a Half-Life Gamer server on LINUX?
Hi Guys/Gals,
This is my first post . I am admin at Warp2search.net (a tech-news german based web-site). Just learnt LINUX ADMINISTRATION and have decided to go full-time in it . Wish me luck.
I have to setup up a Linux HALF-LIFE Game server , where users (both LIN,Win users) can connect through LAN with proper authentication. I also want a proper automatic billing system built around this. and all this on LINUX Machines. Can anybody guide me?
Some steps , i think , Can be taken are as follows :-
1) Installing Linux on a proper powerfull MACHINE 1 and configure the game on it and start as server in the game.
2) Then get/build a accounting system with user info (shared with the game-server for connection) and install this on MACHINE 2. This accounting app will decide and authenticate what balance has the user left to play and will accept/connect/disconnect the user according to the corresponding situation.
My idea of proper APP will be PERL(coding) on LDAP(database). But, i have no idea how to get the app build/get as i have no experience in app-development in LINUX
.
Hope there are people who can help me in this.
