    Can't Configure. Why

    I am running Redhat 9
When I run ./configure I get teh following information.
    ./configure --enable-specialauth --with-pam --enable-log-login --enable-shy --enable-standalone
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
    checking for gcc... no
    checking for cc... no
    checking for cc... no
    checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

    I ran this command
    ls /usr/bin | grep gcc

I expected somthing similar to this:
    gcc
    gcc-2.95
    gcc-3.0
    gccbug-3.0

    but got this:
    gcc296
    i386-redhat-linux7-gcc

    When I run
    echo $PATH
    I get this
    /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin

I have confirmed that these RPMs are installed.
    glibc-devel-2.3.2-11.9.i386.rpm
    cpp-3.2.2-5.i386.rpm
    binutils-2.13.90.0.18-9.i386.rpm
    compat-gcc-c++-7.3-2.96.118.i386.rpm

Now for the question. How can I tell where my cc files are so I can add them to the path? If I have checked the wrong RPS what do I need to install to get compile to work.

    Thanks in advance.

you need to install the gcc compiler suite

    Feeling the Fool.

    Now I'm feeling the Fool.
I found I did not install GCC from disk 2 of Redhat 9.
After reading my own post I realised the files I listed where not gcc.

At least I become a little less Newbie every day.

1:30am my time and I have already learned somthing. This could be a good Valinties day.
