    Start with punctuation and spelling...

Then see if there are any classes you can take at a local college.
Stand up and be counted as a Linux user!

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

you don't need to be a Linux user to write open source software
    or write it for linux.
Anyone can learn MS Visual Basic not a big challenge
being able to spell is a good place to start too.

Thank you for the replies. I had not know the importance of speling and punctuation over here, I did think I could use the 'chat spelling' over here, my sincere apologies.

any tech forum of any kind seems to contain intelligent people.. as far as I have seen most of them thinks it's annoying to write with people who are 'childish' i guess...

Yes, you'll find that most of the people here find it a bit annoying.

Anyway, take a look here for lots of links to free online books, many of them about programming:

Hope you find something that's helpful.

Yes, bad spelling and grammer is about as annoying as leet speak. I find it really hard to tolerate either in any quantity.

Now, you what you need to do is decide what kind of programs you want to get into making. DIfferent languages are better suited for different tasks. So, if you tell us what type of programs you want to make, we can give you better answers.
