How do I compile and upgrade a new software on the same dir
of that software, eg, samba? Can I overlap that new software to the old one? without dependency problems?

if u installed the old version from source, it shoudl just overwrite any files it needs to and u shoudl be sweet. new dpenedencies should be shown in configure. or u could read the manual and check that u have anything it says is a prerequisite
