Difference among console, terminal and xterm
Hi, guys. I am a new-comer to linux world. I wonder if someone could explain to me the difference among console , terminal and xterm. I keep hearing these terms and feel really confused.
Thanks in advance.

Console refers to the command line, which is kind of like to DOS prompt in Windows, but far more powerful. Terminal is a terminal emulator, which is just an X application that allows you access to a console. Xterm is one of many available terminals.
