    ADSL router over ethernet- how to set it up in SuSE 8.2 pro?

    Hi,

    I've got a question that shouldn't be too hard to answer - I hope

    I've got a cayman netopia external ADSL modem/router to which I connect using an ethernet cable. What's the quickest way of getting it to work in SuSE 8.2 pro? As far as I know the PC doesn't even have to know its the internet- it should recognise it as just another PC in a LAN- thats the way it works in win XP. (< oh no, the forbidden word!! )

    what's the simplest way?

    thx for the help.

    find a network config thing of some sort and tell it Gateway = ip of router

    then u probably need to put either the ip of the router or ur DNS in /etc/resolv.conf dependign on the routers capabilities

    if u cant find a config tool i seem to remeber the file being /etc/sysconfig/network

    add the line
    GATEWAY=ip.of.router.thing
