    moving back to linux

So I'm going back to linux after using windows for the last year. I've never used linux for anything more then IMing, and browseing the internet. But now I want to be able to use it for bittorrent, watching .avi, and other things I failed at doing befor.

Heres my list of what I'm planing on needing but don't know if linux has a program for it.
the linux I plan to use - Mandriva 2005 LE
    I need:
    -DVD decrypter
    -DVD Shrick
-Something for my ATI TV card
    -Alcohol 120%
    -Azures
    -Codec to watch .avi

I've tryed installing Azures for linux befor but I had no clue what I was doing so I need help for that too.

Sorry if I posted in the wrong area, and thank you for any and all help.

I suggest you use something more recent and more functionnal. Mandriva 2007 ? Ubuntu 6.10 ? Suse 10.1 ?

Or try the distrochooser if you are uncertain about this :

You can easily install both in "wine". Check out this thread for more :

I'm not sure what you mean here. ATI produces Linux drivers too. Check out ATI's site.

    K3B will do the trick.

No problem there, just install the package "win32-codecs", avalaible (though not installed by default) in any Linux distributions.

There are Linux alternatives to DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. For the former try K3b or dvd::rip. For the latter try K9Copy or xDVDShrink.

-Ok so I used wine worked so well, but does the program I run magicle disapear or do I have to keep going to CLI to install and start it?

-Also where does all my programs go I installed it and I can't find a icon, because I want to use Azureus but I don't know where to find it to tell linux to use it for .torrents
