    Cant See Graphic Interface During And After Installation

    Hiya,

    I've installed Fedora 6 on my laptop using the DVD ISO and during the installation there was a very basic graphic interface and when I went on the slide show of how it should look like I thought something aint right here. In the installation it did meantion some about my graphics but cant remember what it said all that do remember is that it didn't like my monitor or graphics card?

    Please, your help is muchly appreciated

    What graphics card do you have? Also, what desktop environment did you choose when you went through the installer? If I remember correctly, Fedora gives you a choice of Gnome (the default) or KDE.

    I've a

    VIA/S3G Unichrome Graphics Adapter

    and

    I installed the GNOME enviroment

    I typed the command "startx" and it came with an error of

    (EE) Screen(s) Found, but no modes found


    Fatal Server Error:
    no screens found
    XIO: fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
    after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

    Hmm.. Well, that sounds like (to state the obvious) a configuration problem with your monitor. You can regenerate the configuration file for your GUI by logging in as root user (type su followed by the root password), then running xf86config. It should ask you some questions like what the maximum resolution of your monitor is and what kind of video hardware you have and then exit. Try startx again once that's done.

    I try typing su followed by my password but after typing su it doesn't ask for a password?

    Dude please bear with me - new to this

    I typed in xorgconfig logged in as root but it says

    -bash: xorgconfig: command not found

    If I type in su it does nothing?

    Like this

    [root@localhost ¬]# su
    [root@localhost ¬]# _
