Yes, it has latest xorg server (7.1, which has AIGLX integrated) and latest Gnome/KDE. Without too much work, it can be pretty.is FC 6 a good choice ?
Simply don't pick an old version of any distro, or a distro which is outdated. You'll sacrifice stability for modern look."To express yourself in freedom, you must die to everything of yesterday. From the 'old', you derive security; from the 'new', you gain the flow."

Thank you for your advice.
I am looking at http://www.kde-look.org/ , i think i can find many good stuff there.
but i have a question :
-which of KDE and Gnome is more mature ?
-which one has more customization available for look and feel ?
-and in term of available softwares , can we run KDE software in Gnome and vice versa ? if not which one has a bigger directory of available softwares.
thanks
- 10-26-2006 #4Both have been around for a while. I think KDE is maybe a little older but that doesn't mean it's any more stable.

I like Gnome a little better just because I think it's a little cleaner and not as clunky as KDE but I have to admit KDE might have Gnome beat in terms of user functionality.

Elive is amazing, comes with E17, a fantastic xwm, and acts as either a live cd or install cd.
It even does the nvidia proprietary drivers correctly on live and full installs. Comes configured with all codecs and most programs that you would need. I only had to add LaTeX and a few other apps that most won't use anyway.

Plus its Debian based and works apt without a hitch
