    veiw harddrive and serial ata help

    i need to install my serial ata harddrive onto the computer but it doesnt work on linux i am wondring if there is a way to install this.

    Also i cant see my harddrive and wats in it is there a way of seeing this ?

    what do you mean bu install? is it partitioned ?
    just plug-in harddisk and mount its partitions using 'mount' command.
    you can check partition names through 'fdisk -l' command. in case, it doesn't work out, plug-in new disk and post the output of 'fdisk -l'.

    Hi TuRGzZy !!

    plug-in second disk and boot up Linux. login as root and in terminal/konsole, type this command

    fdisk -l
    (its small 'L')
    post the output here......

    hey i am gessing its already installed

    Disk /dev/sda: 200.0 GB, 200048565760 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 24321 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

    Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sda1 * 1 24321 195358401 83 Linux

    hey is there a way to reformat my other 30g harddrive from my computer or somethign?

    fdisk showing only one disk and its 200GB. did you plug-in second hard disk? there is nothing like disk-install. you have plug-in disk and mount its partitions.

    you can use GParted/QtParted for partitioning and formatting. which distro you have?
