    Cannot shutdown from Gnome

    Debian 3.1

    Currently using Gnome/GDM.
I was using KDE, but thought I'd give Gnome a try, and I actually like it a lot.
When I go to 'logout' in KDE, it brings me back to the gdm, where I can choose to 'shutdown', which works fine.
However, in the Gnome environment, when I choose shutdown from the desktop drop down menu, my machine reboots instead of shutting down.
    Any ideas?

your default desktop manager is KDE so GDM (GNOME) wont provide those options. set GDM as default desktop manager.

It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

    Hmmm...
I am currently using GDM and Gnome. (NOT KDM and Gnome) I am and have been using GDM as default in /etc/X11/default-desktop-manager.
KDE works fine with GDM (shuts down after logging out to GDM)
WHen trying to shut down from Gnome desktop, machine reboots.
