GRUB doesn't boot
Ok, heres my problem, i have installed fedora core 6 and everything went fine. Once i restarted my computer it went streight into windows xp and didn't even bother starting up GRUB. (I had windows XP previously installed)
So now i can't even get into my newly installed linux.
If anyone has the solution to this please post.

Ok, i got the GRUB to work and i can boot up Windows XP and fedora core, however, when i boot up fedora core it asks me for a login and password in the basic command prompt/DOS/ whatever you want to call it.
Anyways, i never gave linux a login name or password so i have no idea what the actual login or password is.
Added onto that, it doesn't let me type anything in for the password.
Anyone know the login or pass?

During the installation, were you asked to set a root/administrator password?
Note, when you type the password it will not be visible. How to know if you are a geek.

When you installed, what type of installation did you do?
I be4lieve if you did the minimal installation, you won't get any gui environment.
But you should be able to get it through yum.
yum install kde
yum install gnome
See "man yum" for more info. How to know if you are a geek.

Awesome, i got everything working, i can get into the desktop, however, the desktop is very buggy. whenever i go into it there is a bar on the bottom similar to windows and a bar on the top that says applications and has some icons. now, the only problem is i can't click on anything and the desktop itself si black with some screwed up pixles on it.
Ill try to post a picture if i can.
--------Thank you budman and devils casper for helping me out thus far------
- 11-11-2006 #9in GRUB screen, select Fedora title and press 'e'. add 3 at the end of 'kernel' line. press 'b' to boot up. this will drop you on command line login prompt. log in as 'root' and type this command.

Hi there, could you elaborate on how you got GRUB to load? I've got the same problem you initially had and it's driving me nuts!
