An unusual problem!!!
Hello all,
I have got an old Dell Latitude CSX H500XT model laptop this does not have a floppy drive, cd drive nor will it boot from a usb drive (checked BIOS). It is running Windows 98 merrily but I would like to install a version of Linux on this, prefereably GUI based and a light version as it will be mainly used for web browsing.
I have heard of puppy Linux and played with fedora which was installed on a desktop from cds. I can take the hard drive out and put it in a caddy and hook it upto my pc and download linux onto it but then how will i install it on the laptop.
Sorry about the long first post, but there ive got it out of my system.
All help and suggestions subject related or otherwise greatly appreciated.

Have a look at "Install GNU/Linux without any CD, floppy, USB-key, nor any other removable media" at http://marc.herbert.free.fr/linux/win2linstall.html
My concern woould be - How much RAM do you have?

Sorry, forgot to mention no internet access on this machine either at the moment.
I have purchased a network card for it but cannot install or download drivers hence the idea of removing the hard drive and installing the linux operating system. I would like to know how much to install to get me started and then i could update when i get the network card working.
Thank you.
