    Flash works..then it dosen't

I'm running Fedora core 5 with Firefox 2. I did a bunch of research on how to install the flash plugin. I'm running flash 9. I installed the flashplayer.xpt and the libflashplayer.so files to both /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and /usr/local/firefox/plugins. I shut down the browser and restarted and it worked great. Then I restarted again and I can't see anything. I'm checking videos on youtube and ebaumsworld to see if it works. I just checked and both the files are still there. Can someone tell me what's going on. I've been fighting with this for hours now.

I just got rid of both files in both mozilla and firefox plugin folders. Re-downloaded the flash 9 files, and put the .so file in both folders. Still doesn't work.

Does the flash plugin appear when you type
    Code:
    about:plugins
    in Firefox address bar ?

Try to put the libflashplugin.so file in ~/.mozilla/plugins/ instead.

Make sure you are using the installer version (and not the standalone one).

When I type aboutlugins it does appear and it says it's enabled.

Just do double check, I downloaded it from the link you posted, removed the old file from /mozilla/plugins, and put the new one in there. Still doesn't work. And I did recheck aboutlugins just to make sure it was enabled.

You only need to have it in ~/.mozilla/plugins I don't know whether it could be because it's located at two directories that you get your problems ? Try copying it to ~/.mozilla/plugins/ only.

I removed it from the firefox plugins, but it still dosen't work.
Here's the really strange thing. Before I removed it, I logged in as root and flash was working fine on that profile. It just won't work on my regular profile. Since I'm still pretty new to linux, can someone walk me through how to uninsatll firefox, including user profile, cookies etc? The whole thing. I'm gonna try a fresh install. And one more question, if I decide to move to Fedora 6, does it keep files like pdf's, anything done in open office, on the computer or do I have to back all that up before I install because it will get wiped out?

Thanks for all the help guys!!!
