    partition recovery

    I accidentally copied file(cp) from my home directory to /dev/hda1 which was my ntfs partition with xp.
    Now I can't boot into windows any more, or mount the partition from linux.
    I have no idea how to recover ntfs partition. Please help I'm desperate.

    download testdisk and recover partitions. check this thread too.
