Hey all happy holidays!!

My name is Nelson im a Video editor-camera man i also do lots of DVd authoring,pretty good at aftereffects/boris red,photoshop etc now im getting into the world of streaming video!!!I know i have a lot to learn and many many hours of reading,i have never even installed linux before but i have a few people to help me out.

Me and a friend are going to be streaming pubic domain movies from home at first until traffic picks up, then we will transfer to hosting provider when the time comes. We have just invested close to 7K on 2 new Dual core 2 systems to be used for encoding video and editing,im sure we dont need a dual Xeon or something to host this site,

So my first question is will a Dual AMD MP 1800+ CPU,Tyan 2462 MOBO,1G ECC 266FBS(somethihg like that)will this be up to the task?And if so at what point will it start to crap out,im sure adding 1G more wont hurt also..

2ed,Since this is a old MOBO there is no onboard raid, planning on Raid-5 what kind of controler card should i get? Im sure some promise card wont be the best option should i look at the 3Ware line of C.C,i have used them in the past..Is this a good idea Raid-5 should i be looking for something else...
