Which to use?
Hi, I have an old computer with a hard drive that refuses to let me install windows. I thought about using linux, but haven't found a distribution thing works for me. I was wondering if you folks could suggest something?
I need something that will preferably run from a cd, connect to the internet through a dsl modem connected with usb, will use irc, will play music, and will save files such as irc logs to a usb drive. That's about all I want to use this particular computer for. It also would be nice it if was something that was good for running on an old, slow computer.
Does such a thing exist?

go to www.xubuntu.com and check them out, I use Ubuntu myself and xubuntu is a lite version of the same software, it can be run off a live CD and does all the things you mentioned. I have no idea how old your computer is but to Run the live CD you need 128 RAM, if you install it on your system you will only need 64 MB to Run it and 1.5 gigs of space on your system.
I hope this helps.
