Hi all,
Are earlier versions of linux(any distro) combatible with SATA HDD. If not from which version is it compatible.
My second question is while I am trying to install linux installing process gets struck up while probing for PCI hardware. What may be the problem ?
My motherboard has just 1 IDE slot in which DVD-RAM is the master and SATA HDD is the slave. Does this in way responsible for linux not being installed.
Will the problem be solved if HDD is changed to master and DVD-RAM to slave.
By the way I have tried installing FC4,FC6, Ubuntu 5.10 and some earlier versions of RH and was unsuccessful with all of them.
Thanks & regards,
Kamesh.

Ha at last found out the problem, it was with the PCI bus and was fixed by booting with "linux pci=nommconf"
Any way installed Ubuntu Edgy.
Thanks & regards,
Kamesh
