I broke my Linux, and now im stuck

Somebody please help...

I had successfully installed FC6 (a second time) and had set a screensaver this time around. When i tried to escape from the screensaver it didn't work.

I tried: ESC, Enter, Arrows (all), Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Alt-F1, Alt-F2....

I could see the password prompt flash up for a split second and disappear. Tried typing password, still no luck.

I beat the crap out of the keyboard (pressing nearly every key), then it went black.

Now the computer seems to be punishing me, it won't boot. I get two FAILED's during boot but they disappear too fast to read.

Can i fix this without reinstalling a third time?

boot up in command line mode, log in as root and execute 'startx'. post error message, if any.
