what is the best linux distro for me?
I know this question has been asked more than enough times, but I can't seem to decide which is best for me. I do not know much about linux, but my friend told me it could breathe new life into an aging computer.
I plan on running this on an older PC.
P3 550 Mhz, 385 mb ram, 20gb hd. 64 mb vid card
All I really want to do is watch videos, dvds, surf the net and word process on this computer.
What distro would work best on my pc?
I have the Ubuntu and Fedora images burned, but theres a slew of other distros that look just a good.
and could someone point me to a list of apps I should get when I do install?
Thanks in advance.

Any modern distro *should* run on your computer really, however not particularly at the greatest speed. I'd say Debian with and XFCE desktop might do
Or else you might like to look at something easier as Ubuntu, remove all the unnecessary packages and it should run O-K.
