Ubuntu + ?? = internet
Just installed Ubuntu on Sony laptop SZ220/B, typed the folowing into the terminal to find out which modem is installed but got nothing;
/sbin/lspci
on the net I found it is: ITU V.92 I'm on dialup at home but can have access to WiFi/broadband for downloading.
What do i need to configure for WiFi??
All help appreciated!
I hope this isn't as bad as "which distro should I use?"

No regrets
Well Beagle2
I thank you for replying to my almost blasphemized question cause your link actually got my ubuntu online in good health and kickin...
I am now in the process of installing KDE but 2 obstacles have arised;
1. I have slow download and if its a big size fear it will take forever or damaged if disconnected, what is my alternative. I have a Linux magazine DVD with KDE 3.5.5 will that work?
2. is the following output, is it to be ignored?

in synaptic, when you click on Apply, a detail window pops up. check the download only check box in it. after downloading all packages, uncheck that check box.
you can ignore this warnning OR install GPG-key of the source.2. is the following output, is it to be ignored?

slow connection is creating problems. if KDE 3.5.5 in Linux Magazine DVD is in .deb format, install it. you can download kde packages in other machine having fast internet connection and copy/install in your machine. check this thread.
