Dlink pci wireless problem
Hello to all and to all hello.. thanx for you help so far with my linux box. This is however my first post on this site.
I'm running Slack 9.0, kernel 2.4.30, atheros drivers. I have DLink WDA-2320 and rangebooster router WBR-2310 with active WPA/WPA2. This is on old p3 dell dimension pc. First linux box.. thanx
Problem : Cant finish the Madwifi setup. I followed the instructions for 1st time how to but, when I get to the section about creating interlace and do the iwconfig it doesn't show a 802.11 g ( shows b) and doesn't show frequency. All other nfo is the same. I had no problem w/ make, make install, modprobe ath_pci. I removed old modules successfully. I got this error as I've seen in other posts.
wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta
wlanconfig: ioctl: Input/output error
but saw that since ath0 was showing in ifconfig -a that it wasn't necessary to do that command. Also, lspci shows my modem and sees my wireless card but doesn't recognize it by name
lspci |grep Ethernet
00:0d.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c905C-TX/TX-M[Tornado] (rev 7Cool
00:0f.0 Ethernet controller: Unknown device 168c:0013 (rev 01)
The command dhcpcd ath0 worked no problem as well. I hope I have given enuf nfo so you guys can help me get internet up and running on my linux box.
Also, if ndiswrapper would work I would be willing to try but read at madwifi that it works with Dlink cards/routers. It seems from posts that using win drivers would be a lot simpler to user but here again I'm still new to linux.
thanx for any and all help..
