    WLAN problem

So I thought I'd register seeing that I'll probably be in here A LOT. I just installed Ubuntu 6.06 last night and can't figure out how to get my WLAN to connect.

I'm completely new to Linux so I apologize in advance if things go over my head.

I went to System-Administration-Networking and activated my Wireless connection and deactivated my Ethernet connection. I have WEP setup on my router and entered the password as ascii with the correct ESSID and with DHCP. But when I click OK I can't connect to anything in Firefox and I don't know how to check if I have a connection or not.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, guys!

EDIT: So I saw the network icon and clicked it and got "SIOCGIFFLAGS error: No Such device"

I'm assuming it isn't recognizing my wireless card. It's a BCM4318. I saw some threads on that so I'll look there and see if I can find a solution. If you still want to chime in with help I'd appreciate it.

So I hate to reply instead of edit but I think I need the bump. I followed a tutorial for my wireless card (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=197102) but after running it the "Wireless Connection" option disappeared in my Network configuration. I'm still getting the "No such device" problem but I'm kind of stuck and don't know where to turn.

    Any help?
