Install VMWare or some kind of Virtual OS? HUGE LINUX n00b!!!
Hey well I first installed Ubunutu, but then switched to Sabayon to have the Beryl integrated into it. Now I want to have my XP on a virtual OS through something like VMWare, but I have no idea how to install ANY other software ontop of Linux. So if anyone can help me on how to install VMWare or some kind of other software to run virtual OSes on linux that'd be AMAZING, also maybe a nice guide to get used to linux, or some ideas of some cool things to add on linux to show everyone (and myself) why linux is better

You can download an installer for VMware Workstation here. Or, if you'd rather not pay for that, you can create virtual machines with VMware Server which you can get from here. Xen is an open source virtualization project but I'm not too familiar with it so maybe someone else can help you out with that.

Depends how free you want to go. VMware workstation (to my knowledge) is not free, but programs like VMware Player and VMware Server (yes this one is free, I've downloaded it, it's simmilar to VMware workstation although I like workstation better). VMware player is good because it uses up a lot less room initially. Either way visit www.vmware.com.
Getting the software and setting it up: If using VMware player you will need to obtain a set of files to identify the virtual ram, hd space etc... this can be obtained easily through http://www.easyvmx.com/easyvmx.shtml. Specify the file attributes to what you want.
Download the *.zip and extract the contents into a folder somewhere.
Booting: Open VMware player. You will be prompted for a *.vmx file. This will be located where you extracted the contents of the *.zip file. The virtual machine will then proceed to boot as if it is a new computer with nothing installed on it.
The reason VMware workstation is good is because you don't need to visit this site to make the necessary files, it'll do it for you. I think VMware server can do the same. They can then proceed to run.
For the next part you are going to need a distribution of Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Mandriva, Gentoo, SUSE to name a few).
Insert the CD into the drive, boot the virtual computer and the rest should work like the Linux distribution is meant to.
P.S. You can also download prebuilt virtualization files at http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/.
Good luck

hey thanks... yea I can pay for it, if it would allow me to emulate Windows. But chadders, did you think I Was asking to emulate linux on my windows machine? I've emulated stuff using VMWare for winodws... but now I want to install VMWare on my linux OS so that I can be on Windows as well

VMware is available for both Windows and Linux. So to my knowledge it should work on both OS. And to be honest I didn't know whether you would be emulating from Windows or from Linux.
