    installing audio for fc6?-help needed

    I installed amarok using yum and it was successful...
    i am not able to able play mp3 files....? i get xine engine error! .I tried configuring my engine by changing to helix,but the error still persists

    then i installed xine and it says that "there is no demuxer plugin to handle the data"... i have desperately surfing for a few days to arm my fc6 with audio/video support...

    did you try xmms?
    Code:
    yum -y install xmms xmms-mp3
    check this link for Amarok and other MultiMedia players. that link is for FC5 but instructions are same for FC6 too.

    yes.. i installed xmms

    i installed xmms..but not xmms-mp3... when i open mp3 files in xmms,it stands still as if no process was initiated... i am yumming xmms-mp3 now.. i will post the results in sometime...

    casper... doubt

    thank God after two months since my fedora installation... now i am able to play mp3 files using vlc player which i downloaded some time before..but i have got a doubt whether its advisable to use third party repositories like freshrpms,sourceforge in yum... if so please send a good link where i can get an insight of adding extra repositories

    Freshrpms repository has a lot of packages and i am using that only. click on this link and download/install freshrpms repo. Livna has a lot of packages too.
