No Sound in PCLinuxOS
Ok Im a newb I get it. But I can use synaptic, Have wine running, on my 10Gb Partition for PClinuxOS, Even Got my card succesfully running, But I have no sound. To a degree. No Gaim or Kopete Messenger windows buzz, Amarok Doesnt Play My music, But I havea logon sound, and When Something failed, I could here the breaking sound. Odd. And even odder, when I was in FF, Trying to watch a video, I saw the video, but the audio Was all Cracked up, and sounded like a chipmunk. It scared me. So I dont know where to go from here. Any Help would be nice!

Hi livin4messiah!
Right...
1 - what kernel are you using? Check using the command uname -a
2 - what sound chip are you using?
3 - check that you have the latest of alsa drivers installed. go to http://www.alsa-project.org/. While you're there, check that alsa supports your chip. Do that by going to Soundcard List.
Possible solutions...
1 - Upgrade the kernel. It worked for me on Fedora Core 6, after the kernel update to 2.16.19 I had sound (do it from the package manager, if possible on PCLinux)
2 - Update your alsa drivers (also from package manager)
3 - Try running a music player from the command line, and see what errors come out (if any).Gentoo 2.6.24 amd64
AMD Anthlon 64 X2, 2 GB RAM, Asus M2N-MX, nVidia GeForce 9600GT 512Mb, 250Gb + 160Gb HDDs

Try switching to root and run 'alsaconf' that is if you have alsa installed, else afaik PCLOS uses the apt package manager so you can run apt-cache search alsa in the terminal or use the recommended way via Synaptic.
Good luck
