    Very high CPU usage when...

    Hi All

I downloaded a widget that would tell me the system's performance and noticed the CPU usage go up to 75-80% and from there up to 100% whenever i ran something in parallel. Amarok visualizations and window translucency also have the same effects of slowing down the the window behavior to almost standstill. checked the monitor size and resolution and they were
    the right ones..

this can not be normal. What should i be lookng into, i couldn't narrow down in some of the documentation I checked.
Am I asking the right questions?? I am using Kubuntu Edgy and am somewhat of a noob.

    Help is much appreciated.

    peace out

Open an xterm or similar and run 'top', you should be able to see which tasks are taking all the cpu time on your system.

with the performance widget running on the desktop Xorg is at 74% CPU everything else below 5%.
What does this bring me to though, is there anything i can do to change that or just simply not use it to keep the system running smooth.
will i ever be able to run graphics all nd 3D stuff on the desktop.

    thanks
