Newbie mistakes with vsftpd
I recently installed vsftpd on an ubuntu server. I managed to configure most things successfully, until I realized that the users had access to EVERY file on the server. I tried to correct this by setting the essential files owner chmod properties to 000. As I'm sure that most of you could have told me... this is a bad idea. I didn't get past etc before I started getting a message like "/etc/sudousers should is 0000 should be 0440". What is the best way to rectify this? I can't even seem to log onto the system any more, so the only possible option is to use a knoppix live-cd. Can someone please help me out?
