    Search Program error message

    Hi!
I use redhat linux 8. There's something wrong with the search for files program in linux.

When I try to search for a file e.g smbpasswd or some text file, there is always an error dialog box. It says:
    Warning:locate: warning: database /var/lib/slocate/slocate.db'
is more than 8 days old.

The search program has always worked fine until recently.

What does this message mean and what should I do to get the search program working again?

Please reply quickly if you can......thanks!!

Have you done something to your cron or anacron configuration? In any case, running "updatedb" as root should solve the problem for another 8 days.
