    Red face Transparent Desktop

When I run emerald from terminal,my screen resolution changes and my system virtually hangs and forces me to reboot.
Same in the case of beryl-manager ,when i run it from terminal , the screen resolution changes, linux logs off and then the boot-screen appears asking for user-name and password.

    What may be the problem?

**Can someone suggest a software which can make my desktop transparent and nice.

Which distribution are you using? There are different ways to get the eye candy up and going on your Desktop and some methods are easier for some distributions than others. Also, are you sure your video card is powerful enough and that you have the proper drivers installed?

Transparent windows comes with Beryl (as you well know) and to get any part of Beryl running, you need a successfully working vid card. What vid card are you using?
