    Drivers and Partitions

If you have windows and linux installed, and have downloaded drivers on the windows half, do you need to separately download drivers on the Linux half ? I am probably completely off track on how computers even work.... I guess thats why I am posting in this particular forum. Thanks for any information
    Regards Ian

    Generally, no.

Depending on the linux distribution you use, it will usually include all the drivers necessary to make all of your hardware work. Occasionally you may struggle to find/install drivers in linux... but that's when you post again here .

I found the most trouble i had with linux drivers was for dialup modems. Since then, I haven't had a real problem.

By the way, welcome to the forums.

Well the more I think about it, the more I feel my problem is not to do with drivers. I am unable to connect to the Internet while using linux (openSUSE) i tried messing around with the network settings, but I don't really know what they mean...., Is there a tutorial anywhere on the interweb?.

Another embarrassing problem I seem to be having, is the fact I cant seem to turn off the computer while using linux...... the shutdown/logout buttons seem very unresponsive.....

    Thanks again Ian

Not sure what you mean here. Are you saying it won't shutdown at all using your desktop manager or just that it takes more time than you think it should? What desktop manager are you using? What linux distro are you using?

    Have you checked here first?

He might mean that the buttons are not clickable, which would be the case if he didn't have the permissions to use /sbin/shutdown. It could be a permission problem. (I'll wait for more explanation though)
