Mandriva Installation Issues

Hi guys,

I've decided to go with Mandriva for now; that is if I could get it installed hehe It seems to freeze during the installation. I push alt + F4 to view the log and I see it keeps trying to do something, but it keeps coming up with an error:

Buffer I/O error on device hda
hda: media error (bad sector) { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
Failed opcode was : unknown

There are some numbers and such in there too, and the numbers do change, but I'm not sure if it'll ever get past these errors, or if it does if the installation will be good.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

What Mandriva are you using? Im not a real genius at Linux but your disk might have corupted but i could be wrong i know i had that once all i did was redownloaded it put it on a new disk and it worked. but that was on Live CD Mandriva.. but now i moved onto Ubuntu (its alittle easier to get use to then Mandriva i think)
