What linux distro are you using?

Describe your system setup. Monitor and relevant pc specs. Do you have both onboard sound and a sound card?

I'm not a Ubuntu user but I do run debian so I'll give it a shot.

Re: Sound, can you think of anything you might have installed prior to loosing your sound?

    Try this:

From the Command Line log in as root/sudo and run alsaconf to see if your sound card is recongnized and if so the default settings should work.

Then run alsamixer and verify that the Master vol is set, etc. and then test your sound (with fingers crossed).

Re: Monitor. The LCD refresh rates are not relevant. What is the status of this monitor meaning is it working at some other resolution or what?
