use mousewheel to scroll textmode bash?

Is there any way to make the console bash runs in when you're in textmode buffer the last few screenfulls of output so you can scroll back with the mousewheel to look at them? Or, if bash IS "the textmode console", an enhanced version that does something along these lines?

you can already do that with "Shift + page up / page dn" to scroll back, i suppose you could map the mousewheel to the same key commands to do it...provided you have text mode mouse support / GPM....i'll have to try it.... hmmm
