Maybe try ubuntu you could set our pc up as a dual boot and experiment with linux.
ubuntu has the utlities built in to setup dual boot.
As far as the games you will probably have to find a linux version.
There are plenty of sites that walk you through setting any "extras" you need, just do a google search for the particular version you have.
If you need anything let me know.

You can play around with it, see if you like it and it will do what you want, and if it does, you can install it.
Most commercial (read: not free) games will not work in Linux, because they were designed for Microsoft Windows. Linux is not Microsoft Windows. MP3 support is not included in Ubuntu (nor in Fedora, Debian, or openSuSE) by default due to legal issues. You can add that in later using tutorials online.
Your internet browsing should be identical. If you use the Firefox browser in MS Windows, you can also use Firefox in Linux. If you do your homework in Microsoft Office, you will likely be able to do the same things in OpenOffice. It will even save in Office .DOC format.
For your instant messenger, you'll likely not find an official client for MSN, and the official clients for Yahoo and AIM are terrible, however there are messaging clients for Linux that will work with all 3 services. A popular one is GAIM, which comes with Ubuntu by default.
If you're interested in knowing more about Linux, I recommend this thread:

However, as I said, we can't tell you which distribution to choose or even if Linux will work for you personally. That's up for you to decide.Registered Linux user #270181
