is this a windows question or a mandrake? Also what version of mandrake are you running? is it a lan card or wireless you are trying to connect with? Also from the modem to the router do you have it plugged into the up link wan port? from the router does it have a switch or are you using an external switch? if your router has a built in switch then you might drop your switch for now.

Its a mandrake question. the version is 10.0. And its a lan card im trying to connect with. YES. from the modem to the router its plugged into the up link wan port. The router is way to far from my computer, and before we got adsl we had a tp from the computer down stairs upp to our switch, and then we got adsl the switch is connected with the router down stairs.

what does ifconfig result in. if this command isnt availiable you might have to su to root then use ifconfig. also you can bring a browser up and see if you are getting connection to the router. most of them have a address you can remote administer them from. if that address is blocked then it might be something with your network card. it might not have picked it up on initial install.

Perhaps the DNS (domain name servers) are not set.

Can you ping 66.75.164.90 which is www.google.com? If yes, but you can not ping www.google.com then it is because you do not have the DNS settings entered.

Is there a checklist somewhere that we can follow to make sure we have set everything up correctly? Especially one that can tell us if a step is working or not? We need a How To Internet. But I didn't find one.
