    Sound Card Problems

I have 2 machines at the moment that have are almost exactly alike, the only difference is that one machine has a 2.8ghz over the other with a 2.4, both are Dells with Intel onboard soundcards. The OS's on these 2 are different, one has Gentoo and the other has Fedora Core 1, the soundcard on Gentoo runs, although not well, but my brother and I can't seem to get the soundcard on the Fedora box to at least put out some sound. Yet we still have Fedora recognizing the sound card, the only other difference I can think of is the fact that Gentoo box is running the 2.6 kernel while the Fedora is still on 2.4 I believe. Help please.

After/If #1 and #2 have been done, check the mute and volume on the Mixer.
