mouse scroll wheel fails to work after using kvm

I am having trouble getting my 3 button Logitech mouse to work correctly on Fedora Core 6. The problem is related to using the scroll wheel.

I have two PCs hooked up via a Belkin SOHO KVM switch.

When I boot up Fedora Core 6 and log in everything works well. I can use my scroll mouse and the middle wheel/button fuctions correctly and I can scroll in web pages using the wheel.

However, when I switch using the KVM to the other PC and then later switch back I find that the mouse still works apart from the fact that the scroll wheel no longer functions.

I then have to use the left mouse button or the middle wheel as a button together with the scroll bar in order to scroll up and down a web page.

Is this a bug or do I need to configure something to ensure that KVM switching does not stop my wheel being used for scrolling?

KVM switches are, supposedly, notorious for mouse problems. Here is something I found though.

Two levels higher than a newb.
    (I can search google)

"KVM switches are, supposedly, notorious for mouse problems"

I could spend my entire life posting on forums about misconceptions of KVM switches. Let me make this very simple, if you go and buy the cheapest product of any type you can find, don't be surprised if it is a bit crap.

Did you go and buy the cheapest PC you could find?

There is no reason at all why a KVM switch should cause any problems at all. It should be utterly transparent and there should be no loss of any functionality. Screens, keyboards and mice should all function in exactly the same way as they would plugged into the PC directly. Video image should be chrisp, clear and bright.

    See www.adder.com

No they are not cheap but then you already know what you get if you buy cheap.

That does not explain why I do not have any problems with it in Windows.

Moreover, in linux the keyboard works perfectly as does the video which is crisp, clear and bright.
There must be something about the way the software handles the mouse.
