Arrow Website Designer; What's best instead of .WMV ?

I am looking to change all my video's on different websites from the format .WMV to something else such as .MOV to be viewable on Linux system with Opera / Firefox / Konqueror. I want it to be viewable as well on Internet Explorer off-course as it is still the most popular (until people understand what is Vista ) but also on Mac. Would .MOV be the best move ?

That is a hard question. The problem is the widespread formats (wmv, mpeg, quicktime) are all proprietary and therefore are going to be issues in linux. Theora, the free/open source format is not on a lot of windows/mac computers. So I would go with mpeg as the best of the widespread formats. There are solid players on all formats.

i would say mpeg also. For most people it will not require an extra download (like AppleQuicktime, which takes over your computer and is EXTREMELY hard to get rid of.)
