    What exactly is Skim for?

    i've read the very short 'man' on Skim. i've tried to find it on sourceforge.net or a website for it. No luck.

    What exactly is it for and do i need it?

    If you need to type in another language (with different fonts) you can use skim. skim uses unicode characters and rather than typing a single letter for a single foriegn letter, (while skim is enabled) you can type for an example "KA" and it will show the letters in the foriegn alphabet sounding like "KA". If you don't understand it try using it it'll give you a general idea.

    You'll only need skim if you use another language which uses a different alphabet than english (Chinese, Japanese)
